Building a Platform for Black Excellence

Brownce, a Black-owned startup, was founded with a mission to empower and connect Black hair stylists with customers struggling to find skilled professionals for Black and Brown hair types. The challenge was to create a digital presence that not only reflected this mission but also provided a seamless experience for users searching for the right stylist or salon.

This project was an opportunity to build on Brownce’s commitment to celebrating and uplifting Black excellence. The website needed to align with the existing branding while also serving as a functional and engaging gateway to the upcoming app launch.

Bringing the Vision to Life

As the sole designer and developer for the website, I took full ownership of both the visual and technical execution. My role required balancing the creative vision with technical scalability to ensure a seamless user experience.

I implemented a CMS backend to support content management and built out the entire front end to handle the rapidly growing business needs. Every design and development decision was made with the intention of amplifying Brownce’s voice and ensuring that the website became an extension of their brand identity. This meant integrating intuitive navigation, bold design elements, and a responsive structure that would scale alongside their business growth.

Impact and Growth

The result of this effort was an increase in exposure for Brownce’s app, driving more downloads and engagement. The website became a foundational digital space that helped build anticipation for the app’s launch and served as a resource for users seeking Black hair stylists.

Beyond the measurable results, the Brownce team was thrilled with the final product. Their excitement and continuous positive feedback reflected the strong collaboration and shared vision that fueled this project. Over time, the website has evolved alongside the business, solidifying its role as a key part of Brownce’s success story.

Sustaining Growth and Impact

This project was more than just a website—it was a platform that amplified a movement. By creating a digital presence rooted in empowerment and accessibility, Brownce was able to connect with a wider audience and establish itself as a leader in its space.

As the business continues to grow, the lessons from this project serve as a blueprint for future initiatives. The importance of strong branding, seamless functionality, and mission-driven design will continue to shape how Brownce expands its reach and impact in the years to come.
